Ring of Kerry

The Ring of Kerry is a 110-mile drive in southwestern Ireland. Not all is scenic as it snakes through some quaint towns, but the section we drove was spectacular. We started in a fantastic town called Kenmare and ended in Killarney.

Kenmare had great shopping, including a wide variety of wool sweaters. I bought a lovely scarf and a hat. We also had a great lunch in this town at a cafe called Jam. Seating was tight, but they had carafes of water flavored with the typical lemon, but also mint. Very refreshing!

The drive wasn’t as harrowing as I expected, except when trying to navigate around the tour buses. I am glad we did the drive ourselves as it gave us full flexibility to stop and explore.

I wish I had time to explore Killarney National Park. What I saw from the road is beautiful.

I enjoyed watching the sheep! They would not let me pet them though.
