Yes, another list.
No, not my list.
Please check out the original story because each place comes with a fantastic photo.
I don’t know that the world is actually going to end…..hopefully it won’t during my lifetime. And, hopefully I have many years to get to these places. I’ve been to four. Of those four, I don’t think one of them belongs on this list.
- Antelope Canyon
- Uluru (Ayers Rock)
- Bora Bora
- Victoria Falls
- Norwegian Fjords
- Moraine Lake
- Machu Picchu
- Great Barrier Reef
- Sistine Chapel
- Taj Mahal
- Palace of Versailles
- Great Wall of China
- Angkor Wat
- Church of Our Virgin Mary of Zion
I loved the Norwegian Fjords! I hope to take the rest of my family back there some day, and spend more than one day experiencing the beauty.
Sistine Chapel is a must-see in my book too. Be sure to obey the no photos rules because they will kick you out. No, it didn’t happen to me; but I saw someone being removed from the room. There are millions of pictures online so it isn’t worth the risk. Also note – when they say it is closing at say 6 pm, they don’t mean you can stay in there until 6 pm. They will start escorting everyone out much earlier, could be 30 minutes, because closing at 6 pm means everyone must be out of the building at 5:59 – NO exceptions.
Stonehenge – rocks in a field. Yes, it is kinda cool that (super-strong?) humans put these huge rocks like this a very long time ago; but it is still rocks in a field. There is nothing more to see in the area, and you can get the jist of it from one of the millions of pictures found online. Don’t waste your time.
Palace of Versailles is beautiful and easy to get to from Paris.
I haven’t been to the pyramids, but find it interesting that they didn’t make the list. Perhaps I will nominate them to replace Stonehenge, but I need to see them first. So…. of the places I have been to, I nominate Pompeii to replace Stonehenge.
