Angels and Demons

St. Maria del Popolo Church

After two attemps I finally read this book by Dan Brown.

My first tour in Rome was called Angels and Demons. It was a great tour! The guide did an excellent job of showing us some of the reality and history; and gently reminded us the book is a work of fiction. Brown sprinkles in enough fact and real places to make it seem like it could all be true. But not much of it is.

We went to all of the major places featured as the Path of Illumination. Each place in the path features a Bernini angel that points to the next destination.

St. Peter’s Square
St. Maria della Vittoria Church
Piazza Navona
Castel Sant’Angelo

Castel san Angelo

After this tour I became so interested in Bernini’s work that I bought a book about his sculptures. He didn’t create everything attributed to him, but he had a hand in thousands of amazing pieces.

I want to see the world! I am armed with the book "1,000 places to see before you die" and I am having a great time. I am also a dog lover and theatre snob.
